Lifes Woven Threads

I've really got to remember to rotate the picture before I transfer it to my file. This piece is also for Orewa. The Red Thread is from a Chinese story about a red thread linking all of us together.
This piece is for 'Lifes Woven Threads' at Gallery in Orewa towards the end of the year. There are a few more wire pieces to add yet but the idea is developing. I'm calling it a Brain Map with the central them as 'Life'.....I'm yet to research some more words to add as it is looking a little 'bald'.

My first class. A group of ladies from Whangarei wanted to play with paint and textiles. Sheryll Sefton and I introduced them to Lutradur, Tyvek and Thermofoam among other things, sitching, painting and burning. We used Highbury House Creche hence the little chairs and table. The most enjoyable part was showing them a technique and seeign what they did with it. I learnt that a lesson plan is a helpful backup should the participants be totally brain dead and have no initiative at all and that an end product is actually quite satisfying for most people.
